These points are accumulated and tabulated for end of year championship contention which qualify for awards. Championship point totals are calculated by adding points up and then applying an “event drop” of 25% of the event total to allow more eligibility of members. There will be a 4 event minimum threshold to drop a single event.

To find the correct class for a car with SCCV’s classing system, begin with the “Stock Classing” link. Find the vehicle year and model, and locate the SCCV class column (right-most column in bold). If the vehicle is completely stock with no modifications, this is the vehicle’s SCCV class. If the vehicle cannot be found on this list, please reach out to an SCCV organizer for help, or determine your SCCA classing designation yourself via the SCCA Solo website.

If the vehicle has modifications, take note of the stock classing and then go to the “Classing Points” link. Here one will add together any modifications on the vehicle. 15 points will bump a car up to the next class. Depending on the car’s stock version classing, it may already begin with modification points (this is done to balance classes as much as possible). If this is the case, the modification points are added on top of the starting points. If they are over 15, the vehicle will bump to the next class (30 bumping up two classes, etc).

Classing collects similar types of vehicles. Base classing and the modifications points are not perfect – not all cars in each class are perfectly even. The class number does not necessarily mean one class is faster than the other, though there is a rough trend from Class 1 to Class 6 in terms of performance. Class 6 is an “open class” with no limit to modification.

If unsure about classing specifics, reach out to an organizer or bring your information to your first event to ask for help or post on the forum for some help.

TECH INSPECTION
The failure to pass any of these checks may disqualify you from participating in our event.Passing Tech Inspection is ultimately at the discretion of the inspector and/or event chairman.

PREPARE YOUR CAR
These items will be checked during Tech Inspection.

I. No major fluid leaks including lines
II. Brake fluid at appropriate level and quality; SA rated helmets will most likely require online purchase such as saferacer.com (no known local vendors), while Snell M rated helmets may be available at most of the local motorsport shops, for example motorcycle and ATV distributors. It is recommended that you at least test fit (size of helmet) at a local store before making online purchases if you have not purchased a helmet before. If purchasing in person, verify the helmet is Snell certified with one of the following stickers. The sticker may be hidden underneath the padding.

II. SCCV requires all drivers AND passengers possess a valid Driver’s License.
